INTERIOR DESIGN AND THE URBAN BACHELOR

A Miami-based designer believes she’s tapped into a previously neglected niche in the home decor realm – bachelors.

Sabrina MacLean of Maison MacLean has made a lucrative business of working with today’s urban bachelor, who she describes as decisive and most often on a tight schedule. Which is why she delivers a customized space in six to eight weeks. The process begins with an online quiz asking questions about the client’s career, workout routine and favourite piece of clothing. The thought is that the way we work, exercise and dress is a direct reflection of how we want our interior spaces to look. MacLean then creates a mood board out of the information gathered and presents it to the client. Once approved, she orders, delivers and stages the space all while keeping the client involved, but not overwhelmed. She believes the simple, no-fuss process “demystifies” interior design.
