LUXURY CAMPING

Luxury camping, or “glamping,” combines the amenities of an upscale hotel with the escapism and recreational value of traditional camping. Although this travel method has gotten a bit of a bad rap due to its assumed frivolity, it actually has features almost anyone would enjoy. While the term glamping has only been around for the last decade, the idea of a luxurious camping adventure dates back hundreds of years. In 1520, King Henry the VIII of England and King Francis the I of France met at the Field of the Cloth of Gold for a summit that consisted of 2,800 luxury tents for them and their guests and fountains of red wine. Today, glamping adventures range from very affordable to extravagantly expensive. Upper-scale amenities may include full-sized beds, ensuite bathrooms, gourmet meals and access to technology such as television and wi-fi.
